Great place to be stationed, Marine or Navy. Even tho I never was lucky enough to be assigned here during my 26 years of active duty.
Wonderful place to live and play, excellent housing of base at affordable rates. NEX and Commissary very good, located off base next to Corry Station which was an outlying field for flight training in the 40"s now it is used for ground training for various things.
Good weather year round and great fishing, also good beaches and lots of good places to eat out. one wonderful feature we have on the main side is the Naval and Marine Museum where a family can spend a good day enjoying the sights and sounds along with good food.
The Commissary does not always carry items that a lot of shoppers desire such as the Nature Made Vitamins for which a coupon is always in the Commissary shopper News, however,they do carry other brands but no coupon for what is available. Overall this is an excellent duty station with very good Medical available.
