History town

Ft Stewart

The base is in a small town of Hinesville which is not a good place to live. Richmond hill is 20 minutes east and is wonderful. The schools are really great. The base just opened a new mini mall. There is so much to do in Savannah which is only 30minutes away. For history lovers and old war enthusist, it has a lot to offer. We have loved being 45 minutes from several beaches including Hilton Head, SC. The summers are low 90s and the fall is perfect. It rains a lot so everything is really green and beautiful. If you can get base housing, it isn't too bad. The base has a lot to off and the surrounding towns have many good eating places. It is a good assignment.
