Cannon isn't as bad as some people say it is. Sure it is on the outskirts of a small town (pop. 33,000) named Clovis but it's a nice place. The people in the town of Clovis are really friendly and they welcome the military. It is a nice quiet place to raise a family. Clovis is a farming town, the residents here make most of their money from the cows they raise or the crops they grow. At first I didn't like it here, being from a big city but the place grows on you. There may not be much to do here but fun is about 6 hours away in either direction. You can cross the Texas border which is only 8 miles away and then drive out to Amarillo or Lubbock which is only a 1hr 30 min to 2 hr drive, depending on how fast you drive. So if you don't mind the occasional scent of cows or small towns then Cannon AFB is a place for you.
